Buying and selling requires time, energy, and money on top of dealing with solicitors and estate agents. Moving house creates a level of uncertainty and disruption and it has been said that it can be one of the most stressful things someone can go through, but it doesn’t have to be!
How can we make the process easier
We’ve put together 6 tips to help reduce the stress associated with moving house:
Prioritise your well-being – It sounds simple but first and foremost, make sure that you get plenty of sleep and time to unwind. It’s easy to put everything else first, but a little self-care can stop you from becoming overwhelmed and burnt out.
Plan ahead - Proper planning can mitigate the stress when moving home. Carefully planning at each stage will avoid unexpected surprises and will save you a lot of stress and time in the long run. Start a list of the things you need to do at least 2 months before moving and feel the satisfaction as you tick them off running up to moving day.
Pack early - Packing always takes longer than you expect. Start with all the things that you don’t need on a day-to-day basis and this will ease some of the pressure as moving day approaches.
Declutter - Moving house is the perfect opportunity for a clear out. This can be a therapeutic exercise and will also mean that you have less to pack.
Accept help - Don’t think you have to do everything on your own. Help can come in lots of ways from friends and family helping you with the physical move, to looking after the kids while you do some packing or as a support network for advice.
Focus on the positives – Moving home is an exciting time with new opportunities and a chance to meet new people.
Concert Homes are currently offering a number of incentives on selected plots that can help reduce the stress of moving.
Firstly, our Assisted Move Scheme in partnership with Property Perspective takes away the need for expensive estate agents and provides you with a dedicated team to manage your house sale progression. Alternatively, we could offer £2,000 towards your legal fees to help out with the costs of moving home, or on a practical note, you may prefer to choose a flooring package which allows you to move your furniture in on moving day without the worry of getting it fitted later.
